Why Attend our Hazelnut Growers Workshop?
Right now there’s far more demand for hazelnuts than there are growers and there has been no better time in history to get involved. We’ve been at this for decades and we have a lot to share! It’s about time we held a workshop that’s about hazelnut growing, for hazelnut growers, and organized by actual hazelnut growers.
We want to offer prospective growers of hazelnuts the information they’ll need for getting started and succeeding.
We are also hosting this event to celebrate our growers, especially the early-adopters of hazelnut cropping systems that today’s hazelnut producers can learn from.
In this small exclusive workshop, we’ll give you the nitty gritty all about what is involved in genetics selections, propagation, maintenance, cashflow, options in cropping systems, the harvesting equipment, the products we can create, and especially emphasize how important it is for us to stick together as growers!
Our workshop host, Mark Shepard, author of Restoration Agriculture, has been immersed in the Midwest Hazelnut industry for more than 20 years. We are excited to have him present at this workshop on the grounds of New Forest Farm: home to one of most dynamic and mature hybrid hazelnut polyculture systems on the planet
